SMA01 Surge and Lightning Monitoring device

SMA01 is an electromechanical measuring device developed for monitoring lightning protection equipment such as Metal Oxide Arresters (MOA), SPDs (Surge Protection Devices), and TLAs (Transmission Line Arresters). It is connected in series to the grounding lead to measure total leakage current in the 0–50 mA range and detects and records lightning impulses starting from 200 A.

Thanks to its compact design, it can be easily mounted on the bottom, top, back, or using clamps. With its stainless steel and aluminum body, and IP67 protection class, it is suitable for outdoor conditions. It self-generates its power during measurement, requires no battery, and is maintenance-free.

Manufactured in accordance with the IEC 62561 standard, the SMA01 is a reliable, durable, and practical solution for field applications.

Scope of application

STREAMER SMA is an electro-mechanical leakage measurement device and surge counter. The leakage meter provide the value of the total leakage current flowing through the ground conductor from 0 to 50 mA. The surge counter is meant to count the number of lightning strikes based on the current flowing in a conductor.

The SMA shall be installed in series on the ground leads, at the ground terminal of the metal surge arrester. It can be mounted top, bottom or strapped. Terminals can be used either way. The device complies to the IEC 62561. Thanks to its IP67, housing, rugged materials and self power, the SMA is suitable for outdoor and hazardous atmospheres.
